My name is Rachna, I'm a visual artist, working primarily in watercolor and ink. My name means "creation" in Sanskrit and I feel this is apt because creating is my purpose. I am Indian, though I was born in Kuwait. I came to the US with my family for a vacation at the age of 9 but ended up immigrating to the US as a refugee of the Gulf War and growing up in Pittsburgh PA. I am always grateful to live in a place where art is greatly encouraged.

My artistic influences derive from various aspects of modern life, particularly electronic music and the experiences of being a refugee of the 1990 Gulf War, in terms of using art as a release or channel when dealing with and adjusting to life’s circumstances.

The reason I create is mainly to explore what the human mind is capable of conceiving, to constantly evolve and, essentially, to express the human condition.
